Doug's memorial ride will leave from the Western Hotel at 11:30 AM on Sunday. The ride will be about 60 km, and it will include some dirt roads, as all Doug's favorite rides do. It's not a race, but this is The Hard Rider we're talking about, so it won't be a stroll either. There will be opportunities at various points along the way for people to turn back. And if you don't feel like riding, Jenny will be going for a walk around Lake Wendouree - something else Doug enjoyed. We'll meet back at the Western Hotel by 2 PM for chips and mayonnaise, Flemish style, and stories about Doug. Friday November 18 Seniors return to the Track Our regular Thursday night track session was bolstered this week by the presence of an enthusiastic group of senior riders. They came from the road, from mountain bike and just plain novice backgrounds yet by the end of the session they were making up teams for some enthusiastic team pursuit racing. We certainly hope for more of the same in the coming weeks. We also hope for a good turn out this Saturday at 2pm with the return of senior focused weekend racing. Wed November 16 Junior Track Coaching Program Monday night saw the first of four sessions of the BSCC junior and novice track cycling coaching program. While numbers were small we had both senior and junior riders participating and gaining valuable skills in starts, sprints and group track turns. Doug Garley assisted by Greg Nunn provided expertise which we are confident will lead to safer and more confident track cyclists. With three weeks still left we are encouraging all junior, and novice riders to come along on Monday nights between 5 – 6pm and give track cycling a go or develop and practice the skills you currently have. Bikes are available for hire. Wed November 16 Saturday Track is Back! Doug Garley has announced that Saturday track racing will resume after a long absence this Saturday November 19 from 2pm.
